Why are you afraid?

Lately I keep seeing people on Facebook saying things like, “Watch what’s happening in Israel,” or “Do you see the signs?” And yes — things are happening. Not just there, but all over the world. We would be foolish to ignore what is going on around us., We should pay attention and We should stay aware. But as followers of Christ, we are not called to live in fear or worry.

Jesus spoke clearly about this in Matthew 6:27 when He asked, who can add even an hour to their life by worrying? The answer is simple — no one. Worry has never saved a soul. Fear has never strengthened faith. Anxiety has never brought peace. But trust in God changes everything.

If Jesus is coming soon, our response should not be panic — it should be joy. We are going home. That is the hope we carry. That is the promise that steadies our hearts when the world feels unstable. In John 14:1, Jesus told His disciples not to let their hearts be troubled but to believe in Him. That same encouragement is for us today.

This is also a time for those who are far from God to come close. People who do not know Jesus need to meet Him. But we don’t draw people to Christ through fear tactics or constant alarm. We bring people to Him through love, grace, and genuine joy. The light of Christ in us should be brighter than the darkness around us.

Fear not!

The Bible reminds us again and again not to be afraid. In Isaiah 41:10, God tells us not to fear because He is with us, strengthening and helping us. That is not just comforting language — it is a powerful truth. We are never walking through uncertain times alone.

And when anxiety tries to creep in, we can remember Philippians 4:6–7, which calls us to bring everything to God in prayer. His peace will guard our hearts and minds. That peace is supernatural. It does not depend on world events, headlines, or timelines.

The joy of the Lord is our strength, just as Nehemiah 8:10 declares. Joy is not denial of reality. Joy is confidence in who holds reality. No matter if Jesus returns today, next year, or fifty years from now, we can live with hope instead of fear. We can live ready, but also fully alive.

So be encouraged. Be grateful that you are one who belongs to Him. Pray for those who are far from Him. Shine your light boldly. Love people deeply. Speak truth with kindness. Let your life point others to the peace you have found in Christ.

God loves you. I love you. Together, through Him, we truly do have this.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being our peace in uncertain times. Help me not to live in fear or worry, but in trust and joy. Remind me that my life is secure in You no matter what happens in the world around me. Give me courage to shine Your light and love others with grace. Draw those who are far from You closer, and use my life as a witness of Your goodness. Fill my heart with Your supernatural peace today.

In Jesus’ name,

amen.
