Where Is Your Heart?
Verses:
Matthew 6:21 : Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
1 Samuel 16:7 : But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
John 13:34–35 : So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
Devotional:
Good morning, brothers and sisters.
I want to talk about the heart today.
Not because I’ve mastered anything — trust me, I haven’t — but because I had a simple conversation with a friend that made me reflect.
I’ve wanted a 2006 H1 Hummer since I was a kid. Plum crazy purple, silver accents. Big. Diesel. Rugged. Drive-through-anything strength. And yes, they’re expensive. But for me it’s never been about the price tag or flexing on anyone. It’s about what it represents — durability, toughness, keep-going-no-matter-what grit.
But here’s the real question:
If I never own one… would I still be content?
The honest answer is yes.
If I have a stable life…
God’s Grace Studios helps even one soul find Jesus…
I get to build things, serve people, care for my family, and have my bills paid with a little padding in the bank…
That’s success.
I don’t need my name in lights.
I don’t need $10,000 outfits. Walmart works just fine.
I don’t need applause.
Because this life isn’t about me.
It’s about:
- helping others stand back up.
- pointing people to Jesus.
- giving grace where the world gives judgment.
Jesus didn’t say, “Chase status.”
He said, “Love one another.” (John 13:34–35)
And Scripture reminds us that where our treasure is, there our heart will be also (Matthew 6:21). God looks at the heart, not the outward appearance (1 Samuel 16:7).
So I’ll keep dreaming. I have a dream home planned out too. That’s okay. Dreaming isn’t the problem.
The question is — where does your heart rest?
Is it in the blessing…
Or in the One who blesses?
If all I ever get is the opportunity to love people well, share Jesus boldly, and live steady — that’s enough.
This world would be so much better if we gave a little more grace…
a little more patience…
a little more Jesus.
So today, check your heart.
Not for shame.
Not for guilt.
Just alignment.
Because when the heart is right, everything else falls into place.
Prayer:
Father God, search our hearts today. Remove any pride, selfish ambition, or misplaced desire. Teach us to hold dreams loosely and You tightly. Help us to love people the way Jesus loves us. Let our hearts be rooted in service, grace, and truth. Whether You give much or little, help us stay aligned with Your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.
