Doubt. We all have it.
But is it okay to doubt as a Christian?
Short answer? Yes.
It’s hard to have faith in what we can’t see. Scripture tells us we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). That sounds powerful — until you’re actually living it. Until you’re praying and nothing seems to move. Until you’re building something and wondering, “God… where are the customers? Where are the viewers? Am I even doing Your work? Am I doing this right?”
Yeah… those thoughts come up.
Sometimes doubt is the enemy trying to wedge himself between you and God. The enemy loves whispering, “Did God really say?” He’s been using that line since the beginning. Doubt can become dangerous when it pulls us away from trust.
But here’s the part we don’t always talk about:
Doubt and faith can actually work together.
In Mark 9:24, a father cried out to Jesus, “I believe; help my unbelief!” That wasn’t rejection. That was honesty. And Jesus responded with power — not condemnation.
Even Thomas doubted. He said he wouldn’t believe unless he saw Jesus’ wounds. And when Jesus appeared in John 20:27, He didn’t shame him. He invited him closer.
That tells me something important: God isn’t scared of our questions.
Sometimes doubt is a doorway. It pushes us to dig deeper. To study, pray harder, and ask God for wisdom like James 1:5 tells us to. It forces us to search the Scriptures and understand why we believe what we believe.
I’ve had doubts. I still do sometimes.
“Why is God doing it this way?”
“Where is the fruit?”
“Am I missing something?”
But every time I’ve leaned into those questions instead of running from them, I’ve grown. I’ve prayed more intentionally, I’ve listened more carefully, and I’ve trusted more deeply.
And here’s what I’ve learned: doubt only becomes destructive when we let it pull us away from God instead of pushing us toward Him.
If the enemy is trying to get between you and God — use that attack as fuel. Dig in. Learn. Seek. Ask. Wrestle in prayer. Let it refine your faith instead of ruin it.
Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things for good. Even doubt, Even the hard seasons and Even the uncomfortable questions.
So don’t feel ashamed when doubt shows up.
Bring it to God.
Maybe — just maybe — it’s an invitation to grow.
God loves you.
I love you.
Have an amazing day.
Prayer
Father,
You know the questions I don’t always say out loud. You see the doubts that creep in when things feel uncertain. Thank You for not rejecting me when I struggle. Thank You for being patient with me.
Help me use my doubt to seek You more, not less. Give me wisdom when I ask. Strengthen my faith where it feels weak. Teach me to trust You even when I can’t see the full picture.
Draw me closer through every question.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
