Devotional
What is God asking you to do?
Obedience.
Not exactly our favorite word, is it?
Our flesh likes comfort. It likes control. It likes doing things our way. In life we listen to bosses, follow laws, meet deadlines… but when God asks something of us?
“Later, God.”
“After this.”
“When things slow down.”
Sound familiar?
John 14:15 reminds us that loving God and obeying HIM go hand in hand. Obedience isn’t about control — it’s about trust.
Now let me be clear. God is patient. He is not standing there with a stopwatch ready to punish you. But there are consequences to delay.
Sometimes when we hesitate:
- We stall our own growth.
God may be ready to move us forward, but we’re not ready because we haven’t completed the last assignment. - The opportunity passes.
Not because God rejected us — but because timing matters. - God allows circumstances to stretch us.
Not to hurt us. To shape us.
I’ve lived this.
Right now, I know I’m in a holding pattern in some areas of life. God has given me big dreams. But He also has me in a caregiving season.
As a man who wants to provide, give, and build — having no steady income yet can feel heavy some days. But this season is teaching me patience, humility, trust, and strength.
Galatians 6:9 says not to grow weary in doing good. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait on the Lord renew their strength.
Sometimes obedience is action.
Sometimes obedience is staying put.
If something has been nagging at your heart daily — and you know it aligns with God’s will — maybe it’s time to move.
If nothing specific is pressing on your spirit, maybe you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.
Talk to Him.
Ask Him:
“Lord, what do You want me to do today?”
And then listen.
Sometimes the answer is leap.
Sometimes the answer is wait.
Both require faith.
Love you all. Stay safe. God bless.
Prayer
Father God,
What are You asking me to do today?
Am I holding back when I should step forward?
Or am I supposed to stay steady and wait?
Give me clarity, courage and patience.
You are my Provider.
My peace.
My protector.
Help me to obey quickly when You speak, and trust deeply when You are quiet.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
