Devotional

Do you ever feel like Job?

Many people are walking through difficult seasons right now, and the weight can feel overwhelming. Job’s story reminds us that even the strongest faith can be tested. In a short time, he lost his children, his wealth, and his health. Everything that once felt secure was gone.

And yet, in Job 1:21, he said, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

That kind of faith doesn’t come from comfort—it comes from deep trust in God.

Job didn’t pretend everything was okay. He struggled. He asked questions. In Job 2:10, he wrestled with accepting hardship along with blessing. And in Job 13:15, he made a powerful declaration: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”

That’s real faith.

Many people today can relate to that place—feeling tested, confused, and even asking, “Why God?” There are seasons where nothing makes sense, where the answers don’t come, and where the pain feels heavy.

But even in those moments, choosing to say, “I trust You,” changes everything.

Faith isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about holding on to God when there are none.

James 1:12 reminds us that those who endure trials are blessed, and Romans 8:28 assures us that God is working all things together for good—even when it’s hard to see.

Sometimes understanding comes later, and sometimes it doesn’t come at all in this life. But trust doesn’t depend on understanding—it depends on believing that God is still good, still present, and still in control.

Job never received a full explanation for his suffering, but he experienced God in a deeper way. And in the end, God restored him.

That doesn’t mean every situation will look the same, but it does mean this: God has not forgotten His people.

So today, no matter what struggles are being faced, hold on to faith. Keep trusting. Keep believing.

God is still working—and He will bring purpose through the pain.

Prayer

Lord,
I don’t always understand what You’re doing, and sometimes the weight of life feels overwhelming. But today, I choose to trust You anyway. Strengthen my faith in the hard moments. Help me hold on when I feel like letting go. Remind me that You are still good, still present, and still working everything for my good. Even when I don’t see it. Even when I don’t feel it.
I trust You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
