The Week That Changed Everything
Yesterday was Palm Sunday—the beginning of Holy Week. A week that isn’t just tradition, but a deep reminder of everything Jesus did for us.
It started with celebration.
In Matthew 21:8–11, people were laying down palm branches, shouting “Hosanna,” praising Jesus as He entered Jerusalem. They saw Him as a king—and He is—but they didn’t fully understand what kind of King He came to be.
Because just days later… everything shifted.
This week leads us straight to the cross.
And yeah—it’s heavy. It’s sad. It should be. Jesus wasn’t just rejected—He was beaten, mocked, and crucified. Isaiah 53:5 reminds us that He was pierced for our transgressions. That wasn’t random. That wasn’t an accident.
That was love.
On Good Friday, when Jesus said “It is finished” (John 19:30), it didn’t mean defeat. It meant the debt was paid. Sin, shame, guilt—all of it nailed to the cross. In that moment, what looked like the worst tragedy was actually God’s plan unfolding perfectly.
Still… imagine being there.
Darkness covering the land (Luke 23:44–46). Hope seeming lost. Everything quiet.
But God wasn’t done.
Because Sunday was coming.
And just like He promised—He rose.
Matthew 28:5–6 tells us the tomb was empty. Not because someone moved Him—but because death couldn’t hold Him. And 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 confirms it: He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.
That’s the foundation of everything we believe.
This week is a call to reflect—but not just feel sad about what happened. It’s about remembering why it happened.
Jesus didn’t stay on the cross.
Jesus didn’t stay in the grave.
He rose—and because He rose, we have life.
So as you go through this Holy Week, don’t rush it. Sit in it. Think about it. Let it hit your heart again.
Because this wasn’t just history.
This was personal.
He did it for you.
Prayer
Jesus,
Thank You for the cross. Thank You for choosing to go through the pain, the rejection, and the sacrifice—all for me. Help me not to take this week lightly. Slow me down and help me truly reflect on what You did and why it matters. Thank You that the story didn’t end at the cross, but in victory through the resurrection. Help me live in that truth every single day.
In Your name, Jesus,
Amen.
