Devotional
Here we are… Saturday of Holy Week.
The day in between.
Yesterday, Jesus was crucified.
Tomorrow, He rises.
But today… feels quiet.
Still.
Heavy.
In Matthew 27:59–66 and Luke 23:50–56, Jesus’ body has been taken down, wrapped, and placed in the tomb. A stone rolled in front. Guards posted. Everything looks final.
From the outside… it looks like it’s over.
The disciples are grieving. Confused. Scattered. The One they followed, believed in, and trusted… is gone.
This is the day where hope feels buried.
And if we’re being real—that feeling isn’t unfamiliar.
We all have “Saturday” seasons.
Moments where God feels silent.
Where prayers seem unanswered.
Where things don’t make sense.
You saw God move before… but right now?
It just feels still.
That’s what makes this day so relatable.
Even Psalm 22:1 echoes that feeling: “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?”—a cry of deep anguish and confusion.
But here’s the truth we have to hold onto:
Just because God is silent… doesn’t mean He’s absent.
Saturday wasn’t empty.
It was hidden.
While everything looked still on earth… God was still working beyond what anyone could see. 1 Peter 3:18 reminds us that even in death, Christ was accomplishing something eternal.
And Lamentations 3:25–26 tells us that the Lord is good to those who wait for Him—that sometimes, faith looks like trusting in the quiet.
That’s what Saturday teaches us.
Faith isn’t just praising on Palm Sunday.
Faith isn’t just believing at the resurrection.
Faith is trusting God… in the middle.
In the unknown.
In the silence.
In the “not yet.”
Because Sunday is coming.
Even when it doesn’t feel like it.
Even when you can’t see it.
Even when everything looks sealed off and finished.
God is still writing the story.
So if today feels like a Saturday for you—hold on.
Don’t give up in the silence.
Don’t lose faith in the waiting.
Because what feels like the end…
might just be the setup for resurrection.
Prayer
Jesus,
Help me trust You in the quiet seasons. When I don’t see movement, when I don’t hear answers, remind me that You are still working. Give me patience in the waiting and faith in the unknown. Strengthen my heart to hold on, even when things feel still or uncertain. Thank You that silence is never the end of the story with You.
In Your name, Jesus,
Amen.
