📖 Daily Devotional — “Never Lose Your Inner Child”
📖 Verse
“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
— Matthew 18:3
💭 Reflection
I’ve always seen this verse from two angles, and both hit home for me:
1️⃣ Childlike Faith
Children trust easily.
They believe before they overthink.
They follow before they analyze.
They learn step by step, without pride or fear.
And that’s us with God.
We are His children —
meant to trust, grow, learn, depend, and let Him guide us.
Childlike faith doesn’t mean immaturity…
it means a pure heart that believes God without complication.
2️⃣ Never Kill Your Inner Child
Jesus said, “Become like little children.”
To me, that means:
✔ Don’t lose your joy
✔ Don’t lose your sense of wonder
✔ Don’t take everything so seriously
✔ Don’t let the world crush the playful part of you
Too many people grow up and kill the child inside them.
But that child is where joy lives.
Where imagination lives.
Where laughter lives.
Where hope lives.
I’ve always said I’m a 12-year-old in a 44-year-old body — and honestly?
I think God likes that.
Yes, be responsible.
Do what needs to be done.
Handle life like an adult…
…but don’t forget how to LIVE.
Laugh with your spouse.
Be silly with your kids.
Joke with your friends.
Stop letting mean people rent space in your head.
Let their words roll off you like water off a duck’s back.
Life is short.
None of us are getting out of here alive — at least not in these bodies!
So stop crying over spilled milk, stop letting 10 bad seconds ruin your day, stop worrying about everything.
Give it to God…
and then bask in His peace like a child who feels safe in their Father’s arms.
🙏 Prayer
Father, help me trust like a child.
Help me laugh again.
Help me let go of fear and worry, and hold onto joy, wonder, and peace.
Teach me to live with a simple, humble heart that believes in Your goodness.
Keep my inner child alive as I follow You with obedience and delight.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
