God’s Promise of Strength
Verse
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31
Reflection
Strength is often misunderstood as having endless energy, unwavering confidence, or emotional toughness. Many people believe strength means never getting tired, never breaking down, and never needing help. But God’s promise of strength speaks to a very different reality. God does not promise that we will never feel weak—God promises that weakness does not disqualify us.
Isaiah reminds us that strength is renewed, not manufactured. That means there are moments when strength runs out—and that is not failure. It is human. God never expected you to carry life on your own. When you reach the end of yourself, God steps in and supplies what you lack. Strength is not about pushing harder; it’s about leaning closer.
Many people live exhausted because they are relying on their own power. They try to muscle through responsibilities, pain, grief, and pressure until burnout feels inevitable. But God’s promise invites us to trade self-reliance for God-dependence. Waiting on God is not passive—it is an active choice to trust that God will sustain you moment by moment.
The image of soaring on eagles’ wings is powerful. Eagles don’t fight the wind; they ride it. God’s strength allows you to rise above what once weighed you down—not because the struggle disappeared, but because God lifted you through it. Some days you may soar. Some days you may run. Other days you may only walk. But God promises strength for each pace, not just the fastest ones.
If you feel worn down today—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—this promise is for you. God’s strength meets you exactly where you are, not where you think you should be. You do not need to prove your endurance to God. You simply need to trust God to carry you when your strength runs thin.
Altar Call — Come to Jesus
If you are tired of trying to hold everything together on your own, Jesus invites you to rest in Him. True strength begins with surrender. Today is an invitation to place your trust in Jesus and receive the strength only God can give.
Prayer
God,
I come to You tired and in need of strength. I admit that I cannot do life on my own. I believe that through Jesus, You renew my strength day by day. I receive Your strength now—not just to survive, but to trust You more deeply. Help me rely on You instead of my own ability.
For everyone reading this—bring strength to weary bodies, peace to tired minds, and hope to burdened hearts. Teach us to wait on You, knowing that You will sustain us and lift us when we feel weak.
Amen.
