Devotional

Good morning brothers and sisters!

I sit here sometimes and think about what it would’ve been like to walk the earth while Jesus was here… to see Him, hear His voice, watch the miracles with my own eyes. It feels like it would’ve been so much easier to believe—like faith wouldn’t even be a struggle.

But when you really look at Scripture, that’s not actually true.

The people who walked with Him still struggled. They doubted. They sinned. They hesitated to fully surrender. Even after seeing miracles, even after hearing truth straight from His mouth, belief was still a battle. In John 20:29, Jesus says, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” That’s us.

We walk by faith, not by sight. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. That means what we have isn’t less—it’s different. It’s deeper in a way. We’re not standing in front of Jesus physically, but we are walking with Him spiritually every single day.

And here’s something powerful to think about… we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us. In Acts 1:8, we’re told that we receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. The disciples didn’t even have that until after Jesus rose and ascended. So no, we’re not lacking—we’re equipped.

Still, it can hit your heart sometimes… really thinking about what Jesus went through. The sacrifice. The suffering. The love behind it. There are moments where it just overwhelms you, and all you can do is sit there and feel it. Maybe even break down a little. Because deep down, we know—we’re not worthy of that kind of love.

But that’s the whole point.

Grace isn’t given because we’re worthy. It’s given because He is good.

And yes, even though Romans 8:1 tells us there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus, we still feel it sometimes. We mess up, and that guilt tries to creep in. That shame tries to sit on our shoulders. That’s just human nature.

But hear this clearly—conviction is from God, condemnation is not.

Jesus didn’t die so you could live in shame. He died so you could be free from it.

1 John 1:9 tells us that when we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us. Not just once. Not just for the “big stuff.” But continually.

Yes, we should repent. Yes, we should turn away from sin. But even when you struggle… even when you fall into the same thing again… if your heart truly desires to change, you are forgiven.

Past. Present. Future.

That’s not human forgiveness. That’s God-level forgiveness. And it’s bigger than anything we can fully understand.

So today, don’t carry what Jesus already paid for.

Thank God for His grace. Thank Jesus for His sacrifice. Thank the Holy Spirit for guiding you, teaching you, and walking with you every step of the way.

You are loved more than you know.

Have an amazing Saturday.

Prayer

Lord,

Thank You for loving me even when I fall short. Thank You for sending Jesus to carry what I never could. Sometimes I struggle with guilt and shame, but today I choose to lay that down at Your feet.

Help me to walk by faith, even when I can’t see. Strengthen my heart to turn away from sin, and remind me that Your grace is bigger than my failures.

Thank You for the Holy Spirit, for guiding me, correcting me, and staying with me through everything.

I trust You. I need You. And I thank You.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
