Devotional

Matthew 10:33 is not soft, and we should not try to make it soft. Jesus said that whoever denies Him before people, He will deny before the Father in Heaven. That should wake us up.

We live in a time where many people will say, “I’m a Christian,” or “I pray,” or “I have a good heart,” but they never speak the name of Jesus. They never praise Him publicly. They never share His Word. They never admit openly that He is their Savior. And we have to ask the honest question: what are we afraid of?

Are we afraid people will judge us? Mock us? Unfollow us? Walk away from us?

They do not decide if we enter the Kingdom of Heaven. They do not hold our eternity. They do not live in us. Jesus does.

Romans 10:9 reminds us that confession matters. It is not just about believing quietly in our heart while hiding Jesus from the world. We are called to confess Him as Lord. That does not mean everyone is called to stand on a stage, preach every day, or walk around forcing conversations. Not everyone is called to preach the same way. But every follower of Christ is called to acknowledge Him.

There is a difference between being humble and being hidden. There is a difference between being wise and being ashamed.

Jesus did not die publicly for us so we could follow Him privately in fear.

Mark 8:38 warns us about being ashamed of Him. And that is where we need to check our hearts. Are we silent because we are being led by wisdom, or are we silent because we care more about people’s approval than God’s truth?

Yes, when you speak the name of Jesus, some people will turn away. Some people will not like it. Some people may call you too much, too bold, too serious, too religious. But maybe someone will listen. Maybe someone is hurting and needs the Word you were scared to share. Maybe someone is watching your life and waiting to see if your faith is real. Maybe your boldness will plant a seed that leads someone to Christ.

Psalm 107:2 says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.” If Jesus saved you, say so. If He changed you, say so. If He delivered you, say so. If He is your Lord, do not hide Him.

We do not need to be loud for attention. We need to be bold because we belong to Him.

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us God did not give us a spirit of fear. So let us stop letting fear control our witness. Be proud to speak His name. Be willing to say, “I follow Jesus. He is my Savior. I live by His ways, not my own.”

Because denying Him to please people is not worth losing closeness with the One who gave everything for us.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I have stayed silent when I should have spoken Your name. Give me boldness without pride, wisdom without fear, and courage to confess You openly. Help me live in a way that points people to You. I am not ashamed of You. You are my Savior, my Lord, and my King. In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
