Devotional

Be honest. We all fear change in some way. Even when we welcome it, there's usually that little feeling of dread hiding in the background. We like knowing what's next. We like having a plan. But life with God rarely follows the straight path we imagine.

Maybe God has placed a dream on your heart or made it clear where God is leading you. It's easy to think, "Okay, God said this is going to happen, so the next step must be obvious." But that's usually not how God works. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us that we can make our plans, but God directs our steps. Notice it says steps—not giant leaps.

Trust the Process

God may absolutely be leading you toward a finish line, but almost never is the track a straight line. There may be seasons of waiting, unexpected detours, victories, disappointments, and moments where everything seems to fall perfectly into place. None of those seasons are wasted.

Sometimes we aren't ready for the destination yet. God isn't just preparing the blessing—God is preparing us to handle it. Every lesson learned, every hardship endured, every unexpected turn is shaping our character and strengthening our faith. Looking back, many of us can see that if God had given us what we wanted too soon, we probably wouldn't have been ready for it.

That's why Romans 8:28 is so encouraging. Even when we can't see what God is doing, God is working all things together for the good of those who love God and are called according to God's purpose. That doesn't mean everything feels good, but it does mean nothing is wasted.

Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God's plans are for hope and a future. Our timeline and God's timeline are often very different, but God's timing is always perfect.

As we walk through those changing seasons, remember this: if what you're doing today is within God's will, you can trust God to provide what you need today. God blesses obedience, even when the results aren't immediate. Keep taking the next faithful step instead of worrying about the tenth one.

It's also important to remember what saves us. Our works could never earn salvation. Jesus already paid that price completely on the cross. We are saved by God's grace through faith, as Ephesians 2:8–10 teaches. Our faithfulness, trust, obedience, and repentance don't purchase God's love—they are the response of a heart that has already been changed by God's grace.

So don't be discouraged by the changes. Don't assume a delay means God has forgotten you. Sometimes the change is the preparation. Keep trusting. Keep following. Keep growing. Your time will come when God's timing is right.

God bless you all!

Prayer

Father, thank You for never leaving me, even when I don't understand where You're leading. Help me trust Your timing instead of my own. Give me peace when plans change and faith to keep taking the next step You place before me. Thank You that my salvation rests completely in what Jesus has already done, not in my own efforts. Help me live faithfully as You continue shaping me into who You've called me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.
