📖 Daily Devotional — When “Enough” Never Feels Enough
📖 Scripture
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
— Ephesians 2:8
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
💭 Reflection
I just want to please God.
I know I make mistakes — that’s the human condition. I know I fall short. And I know that without Jesus, I would always fall short of God’s glory.
But if I’m honest, even knowing all that… sometimes it still feels like it’s never really enough.
My heart wants to do more. To serve better. To live in a way that truly honors God. I want to love God well, be a good servant, care for my family, enjoy the life God gave me, and walk faithfully as a Christian.
And yet, there’s this quiet tension inside:
I know I’m righteous because of Jesus… but I still wish I could give God more.
Here’s the truth God keeps bringing me back to:
God never asked me to be “enough.” That’s why Jesus exists.
If being enough were possible on our own, grace wouldn’t be necessary.
Obedience matters. Serving matters. Faithfulness matters. But none of those things create God’s love for us — they flow from it. God isn’t pleased with us because we perform well. God is pleased with us because we belong to Him.
That desire you feel — to please God — isn’t failure. It’s love.
And love doesn’t earn acceptance; it responds to it.
So today, I’m learning this:
God isn’t asking me to strive harder. God is inviting me to trust deeper.
To serve from gratitude, not pressure.
To obey from love, not fear.
To rest knowing that Jesus already made a way.
If you feel like me — wanting to give God everything but still feeling like it’s never quite enough — know this:
God’s grace is sufficient. And you are already loved.
🙏 Prayer
Father God, You know my heart. You know my desire to please You and live a life that honors You. Help me release the pressure to earn what You have already given through Jesus. Teach me to serve with joy, obey with love, and rest in Your grace. Remind me that I belong to You, not because of what I do, but because of who You are. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
