Devotional

Alright… I’m going there.

What is your attitude?

How do you treat others? Is everyone equal in your eyes, or are there people you quietly place above you… and others beneath you? Is ghosting okay? Do you really have to be honest all the time?

Oof. How did you answer those?

Let’s start here — how you look at people matters. A lot. James 2:1 warns us not to show favoritism. That means the CEO in the corner office and the homeless man on the street carry the same value before God. Period.

No one is better than you. And no one is beneath you.

And those people you think are “beneath” you? That could be you in a moment. Circumstances change fast. That’s why humility is so important. Thank God for the blessings you have today — because they are blessings.

Luke 6:31 says to do to others as you would have them do to you. It’s simple. Not always easy. But simple.

Treat people how you want to be treated. Love people how you want to be loved. Speak to people how you would want someone to speak to your spouse, your child, your mom.

Yes, there is evil in the world. Yes, protect yourself wisely. But seek the good — and BE the good people see. Matthew 5:16 says let your light shine before others. That means in traffic. In stores. Online. In private messages.

Now… let’s talk about ghosting.

Short answer? No. It’s not okay.

It’s rude. It’s disrespectful. It leaves people questioning their worth. Wondering what they did wrong. Wondering if you’re okay. And even if they did say or do something you didn’t like, disappearing without a word is not strength — it’s avoidance.

I get it. Confrontation is uncomfortable. I don’t love it either. But Ephesians 4:25 tells us to put away falsehood and speak truthfully. That includes hard conversations.

You don’t have to be cruel. But you do need to be honest.

Which brings us to the next question —

Do you have to be honest all the time?

Yes.

Did Jesus lie? No. Are we called to be more like Him? Yes. So the standard is clear.

Now, let’s use wisdom here. The cashier at the grocery store asking how you are doesn’t need your full life breakdown. It’s okay to say, “I’m good, how are you?” You woke up today. That alone is a blessing.

But your spouse? Your close friends? They deserve honesty. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Proverbs 27:6 says faithful are the wounds of a friend. Real love tells the truth.

And be honest with yourself. You’re not perfect. Stop pretending you are. You can’t grow if you won’t admit where you need growth.

Most importantly — be honest with God. He already knows. Why try to hide it?

Listen, I’m not saying this to hurt you. But I’m not here to sugarcoat everything either. We have to do better as Christ followers. The spotlight is on us whether we like it or not. There are Christians who misrepresent Jesus every day.

Let’s not be those Christians.

Put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience like Colossians 3:12–14 says. Love should cover everything we do.

Not one of us will make it out of this life alive.

Not one of us is perfect.

So love more. Be honest. Have the tough conversations. Treat everyone with dignity.

Check your attitude.

Love you all. God bless.

Prayer

Lord,

Search my heart. Show me where my attitude needs adjusting. If I have treated anyone as less than, forgive me. Teach me to love like You love, speak truth with grace, and walk in humility. Give me courage to have honest conversations and a heart that shines Your light everywhere I go.

Help me reflect You well.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
