Isaiah 65:17 (NLT)
“Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore.”
Chapter Overview
Isaiah 65 begins surprisingly.
God says He was ready to respond to people who weren't even asking for Him.
He allowed Himself to be found by people who weren't searching.
Meanwhile, He had repeatedly reached toward a rebellious people who continued choosing their own ways.
That's the tension running through this chapter.
God reaches.
People resist.
God warns.
God preserves a faithful people.
Judgment comes.
Grace remains.
Then the chapter suddenly opens into one of Isaiah's greatest visions of hope:
New heavens.
New earth.
Joy.
Peace.
Fruitful work.
Security.
Creation restored.
Isaiah 65 shows us both the seriousness of rejecting God and the breathtaking future He promises to those who belong to Him.
God Was Reaching First
The chapter begins with God essentially saying:
“Here I am.”
Think about that.
Humanity's story isn't primarily people desperately searching for a God who keeps hiding.
Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself.
Calls.
Warns.
Invites.
Pursues.
Grace Makes the First Move
🔥
Before we were impressive...
God was gracious.
Before we had everything figured out...
God called.
Christianity Isn't Humanity Climbing Up to God
It's God Coming Near
We saw that yesterday in Isaiah 64.
Isaiah cried:
“Come down!”
And ultimately, in Jesus...
God did.
Jesus Came Looking for Sinners
That should keep us humble.
We sometimes tell our testimony like:
“Then I found Jesus.”
And there's nothing wrong with saying that.
But let's be honest.
😂
Jesus wasn't lost.
He Found Us
🔥
God Held Out His Hands
Isaiah describes God reaching toward a rebellious people all day long.
That's an incredible picture of patience.
God warned them.
Called them.
Invited them.
And they kept choosing their own way.
God's Patience Should Never Be Mistaken for Approval
🔥
That's important.
Sometimes nothing immediately happens after disobedience.
And we think:
“Apparently God's fine with it.”
No.
Delayed Consequences Are Not Divine Permission
🔥
God's patience is mercy.
It gives space for repentance.
Don't Use Grace as Permission to Keep Running
Grace isn't God saying:
“Sin doesn't matter.”
Grace is God saying:
“Come home.”
God Says They Followed Their Own Ways
There's the problem.
Not merely:
They made mistakes.
They wanted life on their terms.
That's Still the Human Problem
We want God...
As long as He agrees with us.
😂
We Want a Savior
But Sometimes We Don't Want a Lord
🔥
We want forgiveness.
Comfort.
Protection.
Provision.
Heaven.
But Then Jesus Says:
Follow Me.
And suddenly the conversation gets serious.
😂
Christianity Is Not Adding Jesus to Your Existing Life
It's Giving Him Your Life
🔥
The Problem With “My Truth”
Our culture often says:
“Live your truth.”
There's a useful idea buried in that phrase if it means being honest about your experience.
But if it means:
“Whatever feels true to me becomes truth,”
Scripture doesn't give us that option.
We Don't Create Truth
We Respond to It
🔥
Jesus doesn't ask us to invent reality.
He calls us to follow Him.
God Confronts False Spirituality
Isaiah 65 describes people participating in practices God had forbidden.
They were spiritual.
Very spiritual.
But they weren't faithful to God.
That's an important distinction.
Spiritual Doesn't Automatically Mean Godly
🔥🔥
Something can feel mysterious.
Powerful.
Supernatural.
Emotional.
Ancient.
Peaceful.
And still not be from God.
Not Every Spiritual Door Should Be Opened
Scripture repeatedly warns God's people against occult practices and seeking spiritual power apart from Him.
So Christians shouldn't treat things like divination, spirit consultation, witchcraft, or other forbidden spiritual practices as harmless entertainment.
But We Don't Respond With Panic
Jesus is greater.
🔥
We don't need to live terrified that darkness is hiding behind every object in the house.
😂
Our confidence is in Christ.
Test Spiritual Claims
Don't believe something merely because somebody says:
“The universe told me...”
“A spirit told me...”
“God told me...”
Or even:
“I just feel it.”
Feelings Are Real
They Are Not Automatically Revelation
🔥
Scripture Remains the Standard
If a spiritual practice requires disobeying God's Word to receive guidance...
Don't ask God to bless it.
We Don't Need Secret Knowledge
We Have Jesus
🔥
Then Comes Religious Pride
God describes people who act as though they are too holy for others.
Basically:
“Stay away from me. I'm holier than you.”
Yikes.
😂
Religious Pride Smells Bad Even When It Wears Church Clothes
🔥
Isaiah's imagery is strong because self-righteousness deeply offends God.
Holiness Should Produce Humility
If knowing Scripture makes me increasingly arrogant...
Something has gone wrong.
The Closer We Get to Jesus
The Less Impressed We Become With Ourselves
🔥
Paul understood that.
The more clearly he saw Christ, the less interested he became in boasting about his religious résumé.
Beware of Spiritual Superiority
It's easy to look at someone else's sin and think:
“I would never.”
Careful.
Grace Should Make Us Grateful
Not Smug
🔥
We Don't Stand Because We're Better
We Stand Because God Is Merciful
But Judgment Is Still Real
Isaiah 65 doesn't erase accountability.
God says rebellion will have consequences.
That's uncomfortable.
But we've seen this throughout Isaiah.
God's patience is enormous.
His mercy is real.
But persistent rebellion matters.
Grace Is Not God Pretending Sin Doesn't Exist
Grace Cost Jesus His Life
🔥
There Comes a Point Where God's Warning Must Be Taken Seriously
We don't know when someone else's opportunities will end.
So we shouldn't speculate.
Our responsibility is simpler:
Today, respond to God.
Don't Schedule Repentance for Later
😂🔥
If God has exposed something today...
Today is a great day to turn around.
You Don't Need to Clean Yourself Up Before Coming
Come to Jesus.
Then let Him change you.
God Preserves a People
In the middle of judgment, Isaiah uses the picture of grapes that still contain good juice.
You don't destroy the whole cluster.
There's something worth preserving.
Judgment Is Not the End of God's Story
🔥
God will preserve His servants.
His promises will not fail.
God Has Always Been Faithful to His Redemptive Plan
Human rebellion does not derail Him.
Nations cannot derail Him.
Kings cannot derail Him.
Our chaos cannot derail Him.
God Doesn't Panic
😂
That's comforting.
Heaven Has Never Had an Emergency Meeting
🔥
God is not improvising His redemption plan because humanity surprised Him again.
But God's Sovereignty Doesn't Remove Human Responsibility
Isaiah holds both together.
God is sovereign.
People are responsible for how they respond to Him.
We Don't Need to Solve Every Mystery Before We Obey
Some theological questions are deep.
Really deep.
And worth studying.
But sometimes we use complicated questions to avoid simple obedience.
😂
You Can Study Sovereignty for Twenty Years
And Still Need to Forgive Your Neighbor
🔥
Theology Should Eventually Reach Your Tuesday
Otherwise we're collecting information.
Not becoming disciples.
Then Isaiah Shows Two Paths
This becomes especially clear later in the chapter.
God's servants rejoice.
Those who reject Him experience judgment.
Everybody Doesn't End Up in the Same Place Merely Because God Is Loving
That's not the biblical picture.
God's love invites.
God's mercy calls.
God offers salvation.
But our response to Him matters.
Jesus Is Not One Option Among Many Equal Roads
🔥
Christians don't say Jesus is Lord because we think we're superior.
We say it because Jesus Himself is the One who saves.
Salvation Is Found in Christ
Which means our message to people isn't:
“Become like us.”
It's:
“Come to Jesus.”
There's a Huge Difference
😂
We aren't the destination.
He is.
Then Everything Changes
Beginning in Isaiah 65:17, the horizon opens.
God says He is creating:
New heavens.
A new earth.
This Is Bigger Than Fixing Your Week
🔥🔥
Christian hope is enormous.
Sometimes our prayers shrink Christianity down to:
“Jesus, please make tomorrow less stressful.”
And yes, bring Him tomorrow.
But the gospel is headed somewhere far greater.
God Is Making All Things New
Not merely:
Making everything slightly less broken.
New.
The Bible Ends Where Isaiah Is Pointing
Revelation 21 echoes this promise.
A new heaven.
A new earth.
God dwelling with His people.
Death defeated.
Sorrow ending.
Everything made new.
Christianity Is Going Somewhere
🔥
History isn't an endless circle.
God has an ending.
And evil doesn't win it.
Your Pain Does Not Get the Final Chapter
❤️🔥
That doesn't mean every painful situation gets resolved during this earthly life.
Some don't.
That's precisely why resurrection hope matters.
Christian Hope Is Bigger Than “Things Will Get Better Soon”
Sometimes they don't.
Christian Hope Says:
Jesus wins.
Death loses.
Creation is renewed.
God dwells with His people.
🔥🔥
That's Stronger Than Optimism
Optimism says:
“Maybe everything will work out.”
Biblical hope says:
“God has promised where His story is going.”
Hope Has an Address
😂
It's not floating positive energy.
Our hope is in Jesus.
The New Creation Matters
Sometimes Christians talk about eternity like we're going to spend forever floating around on clouds.
😂
Isaiah's picture is far more concrete.
Homes.
Work.
Fruitfulness.
Joy.
Peace.
Creation flourishing.
God Doesn't Throw Creation Away
He Redeems
🔥
The biblical story begins with creation.
It ends with new creation.
Your Body Matters
Creation matters.
Work matters.
Relationships matter.
What we do now matters.
Christianity Is Not Escaping God's Creation
It's Waiting for Its Redemption
🔥
Isaiah Describes Joy
God's people rejoice.
The sounds of weeping and crying disappear.
What a promise.
God Is Not Eternally Preserving Your Pain
❤️
There is coming a day when sorrow will not simply be managed.
It will be gone.
Some Wounds Don't Fully Heal Here
That's hard.
But Scripture never tells us to pretend otherwise.
Heaven Is Not God Saying:
“Get over it.”
He makes all things new.
🔥
Your Story Does Not End at the Worst Thing That Happened to You
Because Jesus has the final word.
There Will Be Meaningful Life
Isaiah describes people building houses and living in them.
Planting vineyards and enjoying them.
Work isn't presented as meaningless misery.
God Created Work Before Sin Entered the World
Sin made work painful.
Work itself wasn't the curse.
Eternity Is Not Endless Boredom
😂
We aren't sitting on clouds trying to remember the third verse of a hymn for 900 million years.
God's Future Is Full of Life
Purpose.
Joy.
Relationship.
Worship.
Creation.
The Curse Doesn't Get the Final Word
🔥
But Read Isaiah 65 Carefully
The language includes things like long life and death.
That tells us Isaiah's prophetic picture contains imagery drawn from restored earthly life while pointing beyond itself toward the final new creation.
Revelation gives us the fuller picture:
In the final new creation...
Death is gone.
Scripture Interprets Scripture
🔥
We shouldn't force every prophetic detail into a wooden timeline.
Isaiah is showing a world so transformed by God's blessing that the old patterns of suffering no longer define it.
And the New Testament carries that hope all the way to resurrection and the defeat of death itself.
The Wolf and Lamb
Isaiah ends with another beautiful picture.
Predator and prey together.
Peace replacing hostility.
Creation Itself Is Headed Toward Peace
The violence of the fallen world will not reign forever.
God Is Not Making Peace With Evil
He's Ending Its Reign
🔥
See Jesus Here
Everything Isaiah hopes for ultimately centers on Christ.
Jesus is the One through whom sinners are reconciled to God.
Jesus makes us new.
Jesus will return.
Jesus will judge evil.
Jesus will raise the dead.
And through Him, God's people inherit new creation.
Jesus Isn't Just Trying to Improve Your Current Life
He's Bringing You Into His Kingdom
🔥
That's Why Christianity Cannot Be Reduced to Self-Improvement
Jesus didn't die so we'd become slightly nicer versions of ourselves.
😂
He Came to Save
Forgive.
Reconcile.
Transform.
Resurrect.
Restore.
The Gospel Is Bigger Than Self-Help
🔥
Character of God
God is patient.
He reaches toward rebellious people.
God is holy.
He does not approve of sin simply because judgment is delayed.
God is merciful.
He calls people to return.
God is just.
Persistent rebellion has consequences.
God is sovereign.
Human rebellion cannot derail His purposes.
God is restorative.
His story moves toward new creation.
God is faithful.
What He promises, He will accomplish.
The Lie vs. The Truth
The Lie
“God's patience means my choices don't really matter, and the brokenness I see around me is probably how things will always be.”
The Truth
“God's patience is mercy inviting me to repentance. My response to Him matters, and through Jesus, God's story is moving toward resurrection, restoration, and a new creation where evil and sorrow do not have the final word.”
Don't Mistake God's Patience for His Absence
Maybe you've been wondering:
“Why hasn't God done something?”
Isaiah 65 reminds us that God's patience doesn't mean He doesn't care.
And His silence doesn't mean history is directionless.
God is working toward an ending.
Jesus will return.
Justice will come.
Creation will be restored.
So today...
Respond while He is calling.
Repent where you've wandered.
Stop playing with spirituality that leads you away from Jesus.
Drop the religious pride.
Receive grace.
And when this world feels unbearably broken...
Remember:
This isn't the finished version.
🔥
The brokenness you see isn't eternal.
The sorrow isn't eternal.
The grave isn't eternal.
Sin isn't eternal.
Death isn't eternal.
Jesus is.
And because He lives...
God is making all things new. ❤️🔥
Two Ways to Live
Isaiah 65 keeps placing two responses side by side.
God calls.
Some respond.
Others resist.
God's servants trust Him.
Others continue choosing their own way.
And eventually those roads lead somewhere.
That's important because our culture often treats choices as isolated moments.
But choices become patterns.
Patterns become direction.
And direction eventually takes us somewhere.
🔥
Pay attention to what direction your life is moving.
Don't Only Ask, “Is This Wrong?”
Sometimes that's the right question.
But another useful question is:
“What is this forming in me?”
Is this habit making me:
More truthful?
More loving?
More self-controlled?
More dependent on Jesus?
Or:
More secretive?
More bitter?
More lustful?
More prideful?
More obsessed with approval?
More comfortable with compromise?
Direction Matters
A single step may feel insignificant.
But keep taking the same step long enough and eventually you've traveled somewhere.
😂
Small Compromise Has a Destination
That's why conviction is mercy.
God isn't trying to ruin your fun.
He's warning you that the road goes somewhere.
Conviction Is God Caring About Your Direction
🔥
When Scripture exposes something, don't immediately defend it.
Pause.
Listen.
Repent if necessary.
Don't Make Peace With What Jesus Died to Free You From
🔥
That doesn't mean Christians never struggle.
We do.
Sometimes for years.
But struggling against sin is different from making peace with it.
There's a Difference Between Falling and Moving In
😂🔥
When you fall, get up.
Confess.
Receive grace.
Keep walking with Jesus.
God Calls His People “My Servants”
Isaiah repeatedly contrasts God's servants with those rejecting Him.
That word can make modern people uncomfortable.
Servant.
We like:
Child.
Friend.
Beloved.
Chosen.
😂
Servant feels less Instagram-caption friendly.
But Jesus Is Lord
If He is Lord, then following Him includes obedience.
Grace Doesn't Remove Obedience
It Changes Why We Obey
🔥
We aren't trying to earn adoption.
We're obeying because we belong to Him.
Christianity Is Not:
“Jesus saved me, so now I'll do whatever I want.”
It's:
“Jesus saved me, so my life belongs to Him.”
Freedom Isn't Doing Whatever You Feel
That's usually another form of slavery.
If every desire gets to command you...
You're not free.
😂
Real Freedom Includes the Ability to Say No
No to anger.
No to lust.
No to greed.
No to revenge.
No to pride.
No to impulses.
Jesus Doesn't Free Us So Sin Can Keep Giving Orders
🔥🔥
What Are You Feeding?
Isaiah describes people repeatedly choosing practices that pulled them away from God.
That's worth bringing into modern life.
Whatever you continually feed usually grows.
Feed bitterness?
It grows.
Feed lust?
It grows.
Feed comparison?
It grows.
Feed gratitude?
That grows too.
Your Attention Is Feeding Something
🔥
That's especially important today.
Our phones give us access to more voices than any generation before us.
And algorithms are very good at discovering what keeps us staring.
😂
Don't Let an Algorithm Disciple You
🔥🔥
That's a sentence for somebody.
Ask What Your Inputs Are Producing
What are you watching?
Reading?
Listening to?
Scrolling through?
Who gets hours of access to your thoughts every week?
Not Everything You Can Consume Deserves Access to Your Mind
That doesn't mean becoming terrified of culture.
Christians don't need to hide from everything.
But wisdom asks:
“What is this producing in me?”
If It Constantly Pulls You Away From Jesus
Pay attention.
Stop Calling Bondage Entertainment
🔥
Sometimes we keep consuming something that continually feeds temptation and then pray:
“God, take this temptation away.”
Meanwhile we're refreshing it.
😂
At some point wisdom may look like closing the door.
You Don't Have to Prove How Close You Can Stand to the Fire
🔥
Walk away.
Religious Pride Is Another Kind of Bondage
Isaiah doesn't only confront obvious rebellion.
He confronts self-righteousness.
That's important because people can leave one kind of sin and walk directly into another.
You Can Stop Partying and Start Being Proud That You Stopped Partying
😂🔥
The heart is creative.
Pride Can Turn Obedience Into a Trophy
Suddenly:
“Look how disciplined I am.”
“Look how biblical I am.”
“Look how much better my family is.”
Grace Has No Trophy Case
🔥
Everything good in us ultimately gives us another reason to thank God.
Mature Christians Should Become Safer People
Not people everyone is terrified to admit weakness around.
If Nobody Can Tell You They're Struggling
Because They Know You'll Look Down on Them...
Something is wrong.
🔥
Truth matters.
Holiness matters.
Repentance matters.
But so do gentleness and mercy.
Jesus Was Full of Grace and Truth
Not 50% grace.
50% truth.
😂
Fully both.
We Should Be Too
Speak truth without arrogance.
Offer grace without pretending sin doesn't matter.
God's Servants Have a Different Future
Isaiah describes joy for God's servants.
That doesn't mean Christians have easier lives right now.
Let's be very clear.
Following Jesus Does Not Guarantee an Easy Earthly Life
Jesus certainly didn't have one.
Neither did the apostles.
Our Hope Is Not:
“Nothing painful will happen to me.”
Our hope is:
“Nothing can separate me from Christ, and pain does not get the final word.”
🔥
That Changes How We Suffer
Not because suffering stops hurting.
Christian grief is still grief.
Loss is still loss.
Hope Doesn't Cancel Tears
It Tells Tears They Aren't Eternal
❤️🔥
You Can Grieve and Hope at the Same Time
Those aren't opposites.
Sometimes faith cries.
Sometimes faith asks why.
Sometimes faith needs people to sit quietly beside it.
Don't Rush People Through Grief With Bible Verses
Scripture is precious.
But sometimes we use true verses at terrible times.
😂
Jesus Wept
That should teach us something.
Presence Before Explanation
Sometimes the most Christlike thing you can do is sit with somebody.
Listen.
Pray.
Bring dinner.
Help with the kids.
Show up again next week.
Hope Has Hands
🔥
If we believe God is restoring creation, we should care about hurting people now.
New Creation Should Change How We Live in the Old One
This is huge.
Some people hear:
“God is making everything new.”
And think:
“Cool. So none of this matters.”
Actually...
The opposite.
Resurrection Gives the Present Meaning
🔥
Bodies matter.
People matter.
Justice matters.
Work matters.
Creation matters.
Faithfulness matters.
We Don't Trash the House Because the Owner Is Renovating
😂🔥
We steward what God has given us.
Your Work Matters
Isaiah's picture includes building and planting.
Ordinary work.
Not Everyone Needs a Microphone to Have a Calling
🔥
You can glorify God:
Teaching children.
Fixing engines.
Managing employees.
Cleaning buildings.
Designing software.
Caring for patients.
Building houses.
Raising children.
Running a business.
Serving food.
Sacred and Secular Aren't as Separate as We Think
Whatever work is morally good can be offered to God.
Your Job Doesn't Have to Be Your Identity
But It Can Be an Offering
🔥
Work Without Worship Becomes an Idol
But worship without faithful work can become empty talk.
Do the Work in Front of You
You don't need a giant platform to live a meaningful life.
Heaven Is Not Impressed by Follower Counts
😂🔥
Faithfulness isn't measured in views.
Build What God Gave You to Build
Plant what He gave you to plant.
Serve who He placed in front of you.
Let God Decide the Size
🔥
Enjoying God's Gifts Isn't Ungodly
Isaiah describes people enjoying what they build and plant.
That's beautiful.
Sometimes Christians get suspicious of enjoyment.
😂
God Made Good Things
Food.
Friendship.
Marriage.
Laughter.
Beauty.
Music.
Rest.
Creation.
Gratitude Turns Enjoyment Into Worship
🔥
The problem isn't enjoying gifts.
The problem is replacing the Giver with them.
Enjoy Without Worshiping
Hold gifts with gratitude.
And open hands.
Don't Wait for Eternity to Practice Gratitude
There's a future joy we haven't experienced yet.
But there are gifts today too.
You Can Long for Heaven
And Still Thank God for Breakfast
😂❤️
Both can be holy.
Before They Call, I Will Answer
Later in Isaiah 65, God gives this beautiful picture of intimate responsiveness.
Before His people finish calling, He answers.
The point isn't that believers today receive every requested outcome before they finish praying.
Prayer Is Not Amazon Prime
😂
We need to keep saying that apparently.
The Promise Shows God's Nearness
The future Isaiah describes isn't God far away while His people struggle to reach Him.
It's unhindered fellowship.
The Greatest Gift of New Creation Is God
🔥🔥
Not the houses.
Not vineyards.
Not peace with animals.
Not even the absence of pain.
God Himself
That's where Revelation takes us too.
God dwelling with His people.
Heaven Without Jesus Wouldn't Be Heaven
🔥
The point isn't merely getting a better environment.
It's being with Him.
Be Careful What You Call Heaven
Sometimes our version sounds like:
Unlimited money.
Perfect health.
No annoying people.
Vacation forever.
😂
That's not the center of biblical hope.
Jesus Is
New Creation Is Not Primarily About Getting Everything You Ever Wanted
It's about everything finally being rightly ordered under God.
🔥
That's better.
Because some things we want now aren't actually good for us.
God Isn't Promising to Eternally Fulfill Every Fallen Desire
He's Promising to Make Everything Right
🔥
Including us.
Imagine Desire Without Sin
No envy.
No lust.
No pride.
No hatred.
No fear.
No craving for what destroys us.
We Won't Miss Sin
😂🔥
Nobody is going to be walking around the new creation saying:
“This is nice, but I really miss bitterness.”
Jesus Doesn't Only Change Our Environment
He Changes Us
That's salvation beginning now.
New Creation Starts Showing Up in New People
2 Corinthians speaks of anyone in Christ becoming a new creation.
We are not yet living in the final renewed world.
But God is already making people new through Christ.
The Future Has Started Breaking Into the Present
🔥
Every time Jesus transforms:
Hatred into forgiveness.
Greed into generosity.
Lust into purity.
Pride into humility.
Fear into trust.
Selfishness into service.
We get a glimpse of the kingdom.
Christians Should Look Like People From the Coming Kingdom
Not perfectly.
But increasingly.
If God's Future Is Peace
Practice Peacemaking Now
🔥
If God's future is righteousness...
Pursue righteousness now.
If God's future is worship...
Worship now.
If God's future is generosity...
Be generous now.
If God's future is reconciliation...
Pursue reconciliation where possible now.
Don't Just Wait for the Kingdom
Live Like You Belong to the King
🔥🔥
But Don't Try to Build Heaven Yourself
There's another ditch.
We can begin thinking:
“If we just fix enough systems, educate enough people, elect the right leaders, invent enough technology, or create the perfect community, humanity can build paradise.”
History should make us humble about that.
Humans Cannot Engineer Away Sin
🔥
We should pursue justice.
Improve systems.
Help people.
Create good things.
Seek peace.
Absolutely.
But We Cannot Save the World
Jesus Already Has That Job
😂🔥
Faithfulness Without Messiah Complex
That's the balance.
Do good.
Love people.
Serve.
Build.
Protect.
Give.
Speak truth.
Then Go to Sleep
😂
God is still God while you're unconscious.
You Are Not the Savior
That should be freeing.
Hope Makes Us Faithful
Not Frantic
🔥
We know where history is going.
So we don't need panic to fuel obedience.
This Isn't the Finished Version
Look around.
War.
Disease.
Abuse.
Death.
Broken families.
Addiction.
Loneliness.
Injustice.
Christianity Does Not Ask Us to Pretend This World Isn't Broken
It tells us the brokenness isn't final.
❤️
Don't Call Temporary Things Eternal
🔥
Your grief feels permanent.
It isn't.
Your pain feels like the whole story.
It isn't.
Death feels final.
Because of Jesus...
It isn't.
Resurrection Changes the Definition of “The End”
🔥🔥
For those who belong to Christ, the grave is not the last chapter.
So Live With the Ending in Mind
Not escapism.
Faithfulness.
Forgive Because Bitterness Isn't Coming With You
🔥
Serve because love lasts.
Give because possessions don't.
Tell people about Jesus because eternity matters.
Care for your body because resurrection says bodies matter.
Care about truth because God's kingdom is righteous.
Care about people because they bear God's image.
Live Today Like Tomorrow Belongs to Jesus
🔥
What It Means Today
Isaiah 65 doesn't invite us to sit around staring toward heaven.
It invites us to respond to God now.
Turn from sin.
Reject spiritual counterfeits.
Drop religious pride.
Become servants rather than celebrities.
Grieve with hope.
Work faithfully.
Enjoy God's gifts gratefully.
Care about what He created.
Love people.
And keep your eyes on Jesus.
Because This World Isn't Finished
And neither are you.
God Is Making You New Too
❤️🔥
Maybe the biggest miracle you're waiting for isn't only something God wants to do around you.
Maybe He's still transforming something inside you.
Let Him
The Lie vs. The Truth
The Lie
“If this world is temporary, what I do now doesn't really matter. And if God hasn't fixed everything yet, maybe He isn't doing anything.”
The Truth
“Because Jesus is bringing new creation, faithfulness today matters. I can serve, work, repent, love, grieve with hope, and live like someone who belongs to the coming Kingdom.”
Live Like You Know the Ending
You don't know what tomorrow holds.
You don't know how every prayer will be answered.
You don't know which earthly problems will be resolved in your lifetime.
But you know where God's story is headed.
Jesus reigns.
Death ends.
Creation is renewed.
God dwells with His people.
So don't live like despair gets the final word.
And don't live like this temporary world is all there is.
Work.
Love.
Repent.
Forgive.
Serve.
Worship.
Enjoy God's gifts.
Tell people about Jesus.
And when the brokenness around you becomes overwhelming...
Remember:
This isn't the finished version.
❤️🔥
You aren't waiting for humanity to finally figure everything out.
You're waiting for Jesus.
And while you wait...
Live like you belong to the coming Kingdom. 🔥
Did You Notice?
Isaiah 65 begins with God reaching toward rebellious people and ends with a picture of creation at peace.
That's quite a journey.
😂🔥
But that's the story of redemption.
God doesn't look at a broken creation and say:
“Not My problem.”
He moves toward sinners.
He calls people to repentance.
He judges evil.
He preserves His people.
And He promises restoration.
God's Patience Is Mercy
One of the strongest pictures in Isaiah 65 is God holding out His hands to people who keep resisting Him.
That means we shouldn't mistake patience for approval.
But we also shouldn't miss the tenderness of it.
God calls people to come back.
❤️
If conviction is hitting you today, don't run from it.
Respond.
Did You Notice the Contrast?
Isaiah describes God's servants differently from those who continually reject Him.
One group finds joy in God.
The other continues choosing its own way.
The point isn't:
“Good people versus bad people.”
The deeper question is:
How are you responding to God?
Grace Removes Boasting
Nobody stands before Jesus saying:
“Obviously You picked me. Look at me.”
😂
We come because of mercy.
That should make Christians humble.
Did You Notice New Creation Includes Ordinary Things?
Building.
Planting.
Enjoying.
Living.
Isaiah's vision isn't a boring spiritual fog.
It's full of life.
🔥
God cares about creation because He made it.
And the Bible's story doesn't end with creation abandoned.
It ends with creation renewed.
Your Future Is Not Floating on a Cloud
😂
The New Testament carries Isaiah's hope forward into resurrection and new creation.
God's future is more solid than we sometimes imagine.
Did You Notice Peace Reaches Creation?
The wolf and lamb feeding together paints a world where hostility no longer defines creation.
The curse does not get the last word.
Violence does not get the last word.
Death does not get the last word.
Jesus Gets the Last Word
🔥🔥
That's where Christian hope rests.
Hope Doesn't Mean Pretending
Isaiah's vision of restoration comes after chapters filled with sin, judgment, exile, grief, injustice, and loss.
God never asked His people to pretend those things weren't real.
Neither should we.
Biblical Hope Can Look Directly at Brokenness
And Still Refuse to Call It Final
🔥
You can say:
“This hurts.”
And:
“God is still faithful.”
You can say:
“I don't understand.”
And:
“I still trust Jesus.”
You can grieve.
And hope.
Tears Are Not Unbelief
Jesus wept.
❤️
Sometimes faith looks like worship with tears still running down your face.
But Tears Aren't Eternal
That's the promise.
There is coming a day when God's people will not simply become better at coping with sorrow.
Sorrow will lose its place.
Revelation 21 takes Isaiah's hope even further:
Death gone.
Mourning gone.
Crying gone.
Pain gone.
God Isn't Teaching Us to Live With Death Forever
He's Going to Defeat It
🔥🔥
And He has already begun that victory through the resurrection of Jesus.
The Empty Tomb Changes Everything
If Jesus stayed dead, Christian hope collapses.
But He didn't.
He rose.
And because Jesus rose, resurrection isn't wishful thinking.
Our hope is attached to a Person who walked out of a grave.
The Grave Has an Expiration Date
🔥
That's why Christians can mourn differently.
Not painlessly.
Differently.
Did You Notice God Says He Will Rejoice?
Isaiah's future isn't only about God's people rejoicing.
God Himself delights in what He creates.
That reminds us where history is going.
Not toward God barely tolerating His redeemed people forever.
😂❤️
Toward restored fellowship.
Salvation Brings Us Home to God
The greatest thing about eternity isn't simply that everything bad disappears.
It's that nothing remains between God and His people.
The Greatest Promise Isn't a Perfect Place
It's Perfect Fellowship With God
🔥
That's what our hearts were made for.
So Why Does Today Matter?
Because the coming Kingdom changes how we live now.
If Jesus is making all things new, then our lives should begin showing signs of His Kingdom.
Not perfectly.
But genuinely.
Practice Tomorrow's Kingdom Today
🔥
Where there's hatred...
Choose love.
Where there's division...
Pursue peace without compromising truth.
Where you've sinned...
Repent.
Where someone is hurting...
Show mercy.
Where you've been given abundance...
Be generous.
Where darkness is celebrated...
Walk in the light.
We Don't Create the Kingdom
Jesus Does
But we live like citizens of it.
Don't Become So Focused on Heaven That You Ignore Your Neighbor
😂🔥
If your theology about eternity makes you less compassionate today...
Something got disconnected.
Hope Should Produce Faithfulness
Not Escape
The promise of new creation should make us more willing to love people now.
Main Takeaway
Isaiah 65 reminds us that God's patience is mercy, our response to Him matters, and the broken world we see today is not the finished version. Through Jesus, God is saving people and moving history toward resurrection, restoration, and new creation.
So while we wait:
Repent quickly.
Love deeply.
Work faithfully.
Serve humbly.
Grieve honestly.
Hope fiercely.
And keep following Jesus.
Because:
God is making all things new.
The Lie vs. The Truth
The Lie
“The brokenness I see is permanent. My pain gets the final word, my choices today don't matter much, and hope is basically positive thinking.”
The Truth
“Jesus rose from the dead. My choices matter, God's promises are trustworthy, and the brokenness of this world will not last forever. God is making all things new.”
Reflection Questions
Have I mistaken God's patience with me for approval of something He has already told me to leave behind?
Is there an area where I need to respond to God instead of delaying repentance?
What is currently shaping my thoughts and desires the most?
Has spiritual growth made me more humble—or more critical of others?
Where do I need to grieve honestly instead of pretending I'm fine?
Have I been treating a temporary pain as though it gets the final chapter?
Does my hope in eternity make me more faithful today?
What ordinary work has God placed in front of me that I need to do faithfully?
Where can I practice the values of God's coming Kingdom today?
If I truly believed “this isn't the finished version,” what would change about the way I face today?
Action Step
THIS ISN'T THE FINISHED VERSION
Take a page and write three headings:
WHAT IS BROKEN?
Write one thing currently weighing heavily on you.
Don't minimize it.
Don't spiritualize it away.
Tell the truth.
WHAT IS MINE TO DO?
Maybe:
Repent.
Forgive.
Ask for help.
Make the appointment.
Have the conversation.
Serve someone.
Set a boundary.
Keep showing up.
Pray.
Wait faithfully.
WHAT HAS GOD PROMISED?
Don't write what you wish He promised.
Write what Scripture actually gives you.
Jesus is risen.
Jesus will return.
Evil will not reign forever.
Death will be defeated.
God will dwell with His people.
Creation will be renewed.
Then write across the bottom:
THIS ISN'T THE FINISHED VERSION.
🔥
Let that sentence remind you that hope isn't denying today's pain.
It's refusing to give today's pain authority over eternity.
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for reminding me that what I see today is not the finished version.
There is so much brokenness in this world, and sometimes it feels overwhelming.
Help me not to ignore it, minimize it, or pretend it doesn't hurt.
But don't let me lose hope either.
Where I have wandered, bring me back.
Where I have become comfortable with sin, convict me.
Where pride has grown in me, humble me.
Where I'm hurting, meet me with Your grace.
Teach me to live faithfully while I wait for what You have promised.
Help me love people well, serve humbly, work faithfully, forgive freely, and hold the things of this world with open hands.
Thank You for Jesus.
Thank You that He came for sinners.
Thank You for the cross.
And thank You that the tomb is empty.
Because Jesus lives, death does not get the final word.
When life feels hopeless, remind me where Your story is going.
You are making all things new.
Until that day, help me live like I belong to Your Kingdom.
Keep my eyes on Jesus.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
