Devotional

There is something I have talked about before, but it has been on my mind again today.

God's blessings are everywhere.

Even right now, every believer is surrounded by blessings, whether they realize it or not. Sometimes we get so focused on what is missing that we completely overlook what God has already provided.

Think about this for a moment: you woke up today.

That alone is a blessing.

Every day we open our eyes is another day God has given us. Another opportunity to serve Him, love others, grow in our faith, and share the Gospel. As Psalm 118:24 reminds us, this is the day the Lord has made, and we can choose to rejoice in it.

But the blessings don't stop there.

Do you have food to eat?

Do you have a roof over your head?

Do you have transportation?

Can you walk?

Can you see the beauty of God's creation?

Can you hear the birds singing in the morning?

Can you listen to your favorite worship song or spend time with family and friends?

These are blessings that many people rarely stop to think about. Yet every one of them is a gift from God. James 1:17 tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from above.

Blessings in the Middle of Hard Times

The truth is that life can be falling apart around you, and there can still be blessings right in front of you.

That doesn't mean your struggles aren't real. It doesn't mean your pain doesn't matter. But it does mean that God's goodness is not dependent on your circumstances.

Perspective matters.

Two people can have the exact same situation and see it completely differently. One person sees only problems. The other sees opportunities to trust God.

You can have great wealth and still live with constant anxiety, fear, and dissatisfaction. You can have very little and still experience deep peace because your hope is in Christ.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6 not to be consumed by worry about tomorrow. God already knows what we need. Our job is to seek Him first and trust Him with the future.

That doesn't mean we stop planning. It means we stop letting fear control us.

Give your worries to Him.

Give your fears to Him.

Give your future to Him.

Instead of constantly focusing on what you want next, spend some time thanking God for what you already have today.

The Blessing of Being a Blessing

One day, every material thing we own will be left behind.

The money.

The house.

The vehicles.

The possessions.

None of it goes with us.

Colossians 3:2 tells us to set our minds on things above, not on the things of this earth.

But there is something that lasts far beyond this life.

The impact we have on people.

The kindness we show.

The encouragement we give.

The prayers we pray.

The Gospel we share.

The light we shine for Christ.

God calls us to good works—not because good works save us, but because genuine faith produces them. Ephesians 2:8-10 makes it clear that we are saved by grace through faith, yet God has prepared good works for us to walk in.

When you encourage someone, serve someone, pray for someone, or point someone toward Jesus, God can use that moment to impact a life forever.

What an incredible gift.

So today, look for the blessings.

Not just the big ones.

The small ones too.

The breath in your lungs.

The food on your table.

The people in your life.

The opportunities God gives you today.

The more we focus on God's blessings, the more our hearts fill with gratitude instead of worry.

And gratitude has a way of reminding us just how good God has been all along.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the countless blessings You have given me, both the ones I notice and the ones I often overlook. Help me to see Your goodness in every season of life. When worries and fears try to take my focus, remind me to trust You completely. Teach me to be grateful for what I have today instead of constantly chasing what I may have tomorrow. Help me shine Your light, encourage others, and use the gifts You have given me to glorify You. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your provision, and Your grace. In Jesus' name,

Amen.
