Devotional:

There are times when God will ask us to do things that feel completely out of our reach.

Sometimes He will give us a glimpse of where He is taking us. He may show us a calling, a ministry, a business, a future relationship, or a purpose that seems far bigger than anything we could accomplish on our own.

The problem is that when we see the destination, we often start worrying about how we're going to get there.

We think we need enough faith for the entire journey.

Enough strength for every battle.

Enough courage for every obstacle.

But that's not how God works.

God rarely gives us everything we need for the finish line on day one. Instead, He simply asks us to take the next step.

When God called Abraham, He told him to leave everything familiar and go to a place that God would show him later (Hebrews 11:8). Abraham didn't receive a detailed roadmap. He received a direction. His responsibility wasn't to figure out the entire journey. His responsibility was obedience to the next step.

For me, God has shown me the end vision for my life and for the ministry and business He has called me to build. But when He showed me those things, He wasn't saying, "Go accomplish all of this right now."

It was more like He was saying, "This is where we're going. Today, I just need you to trust Me with the next step."

For me, that step was quitting my job, becoming a caregiver, and starting the ministry and business. It was one of the biggest faith steps I have ever taken.

That may not be what God asks of you.

Your next step might seem much smaller.

Maybe it's applying for a new job, choosing not to make a purchase, making a purchase God has placed on your heart, joining a different church, having a difficult conversation, or simply spending more time with Him every day.

The size of the step doesn't matter.

What matters is obedience.

Trusting During The Wait

One of the hardest parts of following God is the waiting.

After we take that first step, we often expect God to immediately reveal the next ten steps.

Instead, He frequently teaches us to trust Him in the pause.

For me, God has repeatedly confirmed through a pastor friend and through multiple sermons that I am currently in a holding pattern. This is a season of waiting, growing, learning, and preparing.

And honestly, that's not always easy.

We like movement, progress, and seeing things happen.

But sometimes God's greatest work happens beneath the surface before anyone else can see it.

Psalm 37:23 tells us that the Lord directs the steps of the godly. Notice it says steps—not entire roadmaps.

God often reveals His will one step at a time.

If He hasn't shown you the next step yet, keep doing the last thing He told you to do.

Stay faithful., obedient, and trusting.

Keep walking in complete faith even when you don't understand what comes next.

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not depend on our own understanding. When we surrender our plans and acknowledge Him, He directs our paths.

Maybe today your prayer simply needs to be:

"God, I give it all to You. I am not in control. You are. I am Your servant and steward. Your will be done, not mine."

That's where real peace is found.

Not in knowing every detail.

Not in controlling every outcome.

But in knowing the One who is guiding every step.

So take the step God has placed in front of you today.

And if He hasn't given you a new one yet, keep faithfully walking in the last one He gave.

The next step will come when it's time.

Until then, trust Him.

He knows exactly where He's leading you.

Prayer:

Father,

Thank You for being faithful even when I cannot see the whole path ahead. Help me trust You with the next step instead of worrying about the entire journey. Give me the courage to obey when You call and the patience to wait when You tell me to be still.

Teach me to surrender control and place every plan, dream, and desire into Your hands. Help me remember that Your timing is perfect and that Your ways are higher than my own.

Lord, I choose today to trust You completely. Direct my steps, strengthen my faith, and help me remain obedient in every season.

Your will be done, not mine.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
