Daily Devotional β Giving: Seen or Unseen

π Daily Devotional β Giving: Seen or Unseen
π Verse
βLet your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.β
β Matthew 5:16
π Reflection
There are a lot of videos going around social media these days.
People giving to the homeless.
Buying groceries for strangers.
Fixing cars for free.
Helping people who clearly need help.
And then I see Christians in the comments saying these people are wrong.
βYou should never let the left hand know what the right hand is doing.β
βItβs all for show.β
βTheyβre just doing it for likes and followers.β
βSome of these videos are fake.β
Let me address all of this.
Yes β Jesus did say βdo not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.β
But before that, Jesus also said to let your good deeds be seen.
Is that a contradiction?
No.
How will people know the goodness of God if they never see it lived out?
How will a hurting world be reminded that good still exists if no one ever shows it?
In todayβs world especially, people need to be reminded that there is still light.
Hereβs the balance:
There is nothing wrong with sharing acts of giving when the purpose is to spread Godβs love, inspire others, and let His light shine. Those moments can open hearts, soften bitterness, and remind people that God still works through people.
But β not everything needs to be shared.
Some giving should stay between you and God alone.
Some blessings are private.
Some obedience doesnβt need an audience.
As for those who give only for attention, followers, or fake videos β let God deal with that. Thatβs not our job.
Even if someoneβs motives are wrong, giving is still good.
Helping is still good.
Love is still good.
Instead of tearing each other down, letβs focus on this truth:
Giving is good. Period.
Let your light shine, my friends β wisely, humbly, and with the right heart.
π Prayer
Father God, thank You for every act of kindness, whether seen or unseen.
Help us give with pure hearts and right motives.
Teach us when to share and when to stay quiet.
Protect us from judgment and pride.
And may every act of giving point people back to You.
Let Your light shine through us.
In Jesusβ name, Amen.
